چکیده

Flash Analog to Digital Convertor (FADC) is frequently used in nuclear and particle physics experiments, often as the major component in big multi-channel systems. The large data volume makes the optimization of operating parameters necessary. This article reports a study of a method to extend the dynamic range of an 8-bit FADC from the nominal 2 value. By comparing the integrated pulse area with that of a reference profile, good energy reconstruction and event identification can be achieved on saturated events from CsI(Tl) crystal scintillators. The effective dynamic range can be extended by at least 4 more bits. The algorithm is generic and is expected to be applicable to other detector systems with FADC readout. Review of Flash Analogue to Digital Converter

This research presents the review of Analog to Digital Convertor (ADC). For ADC there are mainly four different methods, Flash ADC, Pipelined ADC, Successive Approximation ADC, and Sigma Delta ADC. The Flash ADC is the Fast ADC. For Designing the ADC, the parameters important are Static and Dynamic. In static parameters Differential Non Linearity Error (DNLE), Integral Non Linearity Error (INLE...

A dynamic element matching technique for reduced-distortion multibit quantization in delta-sigma ADCs

A multibit analog-to-digital converter can achieve high resolution with a lower order modulator and lower oversampling ratio than a single-bit design. However, in a multibit modulator, quantization level errors in the internal multibit quantizer can limit the modulator’s signal-to-noise-and-distortion and spurious-free dynamic range. For a CMOS analog-to-digital converter using a flash analog-t...

A Digital Common-Mode Rejection Technique for Differential Analog-to-Digital Conversion

A multibit analog-to-digital converter can achieve high resolution with a lower order modulator and lower oversampling ratio than a single-bit design, but it requires a multibit internal flash analog-to-digital converter rather than a simple comparator. In an implementation with a fully differential analog front end, the flash analog-to-digital converter must quantize a differential voltage rel...

Improving adaptive resolution of analog to digital converters using least squares mean method

This paper presents an adaptive digital resolution improvement method for extrapolating and recursive analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). The presented adaptively enhanced ADC (AE-ADC) digitally estimates the digital equivalent of the input signal by utilizing an adaptive digital filter (ADF). The least mean squares (LMS) algorithm also determines the coefficients of the ADF block. In this sch...

Ali K. Nahar University of Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering Abstract A first order of DWA (data weighted averaging) technique is proposed to improve 6-bit digital-to-analog convertor (DAC). In addition, this paper discusses the impact of mismatch between DAC unit elements. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the DWA technique in reduction of inband tones, also DWA t...
